The Soloist- Coming to a theatre near you!

Since I recently saw Jamie Foxx on an interview, my blog is about his new and upcoming movie "The Soloist."  "The Soloist" starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. is about a schizophrenic man named Nathaniel Ayers ( Foxx) who is a homeless musician from L.A. Ayers dreams of playing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Lucky for him he meets a journalist named Steve Lopez (Jr.) who tries to help Ayers get back into normal society and make his dreams a reality. Based on a true story Lopez becomes Ayers friend, but is caring enough to help a person who has a mental illness?
I found this movie to sound very interesting because it is based on the true story and Lopez who was a journalist in reality published this story and now it is becoming a movie. Movie's that are based on true stories are also more seem more emotional for me because the story actually happened and when you take the chance to think that through it makes the story even more amazing!

Drama States

This week I decided to go a little off topic with my blog. This past week/weekend I attended the Florida States Thespian convention in Tampa. You get to go to states if you received a ranking of an excellent or superior at districts. When you compete at districts there are many categories such as acting, musical theatre, set design, and costumes, that you can take part it. Every category has a solo section, duet, or large group. I went to districts and performed in a large group of 16 girls. We performed a song called "Just Arrived" from the musical Copacabana. We got judged and got straight superiors. At states we also got a superior there too. The rankings in order can be poor, fair, good, excellent, or superior. In other words getting a superior is very good. It was alot of fun and about 36 kids from AMT went and competed. The drama kids at the convention were really friendly and loud. We spent four nights there and as well as competed saw shows and went to different workshops. It was a great experience because I learned alot.

17 Again!

Zac Efron went to starring in the roles of High School Musical to having a role in Hairspray and eventually his starring role in 17 Again. Critics are saying that 17 Again is surprisingly Efron’s best acting. People who aren’t even fans of Efron found that they loved the movie.  Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann,  and Thomas Lennon also star in the film . The movie is about a man who was formerly  a high school basketball star. College scouts were after him but he sacrificed everything to stay with his girlfriend who was unexpectedly pregnant. 20 years passes and he is about to get a big promotion at work, his marriage is failing, and he teenage kids hate him. Mike eventually stays with his best friend and out of no where turns back into his 17 year old self but as part of the 2009 class. Mike then discovers that by recapturing his best years he could risk loosing everything he’s ever worked for he needs to make a decision that could affect his future and past.  I didn’t get a chance to see this movie yet but it looks amazing! It’s gotten surprisingly good reviews and everyone that saw it seemed to enjoy it. Check out the trailer or if you’ve seen it let me know what you think?

Bamboozle!

Wednesday night I went to the Bamboozle road tour concert. The bands performing were Mercy Mercedes, Nevershoutnever, The Cab, Forever the Sickest Kids, and We The Kings. The show was at Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale and it was amazing!! All the bands sounded better live then they do on their cds. What I always like about going to smaller shows is that at smaller shows you can get really close up to the stage and usually can meet the bands. At arenas if you are far away from the performers you can't usually see that great and almost never can you meet them unless you have a special pass. At smaller shows the band members just walk around, meet tons of fans and act like they are normal people. Every single one of the band members I met was really nice and seemed to actually enjoy meeting the fans. To say the least it was a fun night!

Best of Both Worlds: Hannah Montana the Movie!

She has the best of both worlds... now she just has to choose one. Over spring break I saw the Hannah Montana movie. Although I love the show on Disney Channel I admit it is a little corny. I thought the movie was AMAZING!!! It was funny, enjoyable, and I'm not going to lie and one point I may have teared up. Reviews say Miley Cyrus was great in it and so was the whole Hannah Montana cast. New addition, Lucas Till, who plays Travis the cowboy, has stole the hearts of many teens. Critics say if you were between the ages of 6-16 you'd love the movie. If you were an older teen or adult who doesn't have a child you probably wouldn't be interested in seeing it.
Miley Stewart struggles to juggle schools, friends and her pop star life. When Hannah's blooming popularity threatens to take over Miley's whole life she just might let it. Her father takes the teen to her hometown of Crowley Corners Tennessee for a some reality. Miley is surprised with new friends, boys, laughter and fun not even she could imagine!

Whether being a fan of Miley or not, if you saw the movie what did you think of it?
