Best and Worst Dressed of Oscars 09'

Many spectators of the Oscars listen for the award choices, but a major part of the Oscars involved viewing the fashion of the stars. This year some people were dressed right on spot and some.....not so much. According to a pole online people voted with 30% of the total vote, Access’ audience thought that Kate Winslet, in her asymmetric Atelier Yves Saint Laurent evening gown, was the most stunning fashion star of the night. Natalie Portman took second place in her bright pink Rodarte gown, capturing 27% of the vote. n third, Anne Hathaway in her shimmering Armani Prive gown and accompanying Cartier diamonds, which won 23% of the vote. Angelina Jolie, who wore a simple black strapless Elie Saab gown with emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings, followed in fourth place with 20% of the vote. According to Seattle Style examine Sarah Jessica Parker in her Dior dress was the best most elegant dresser of the evening and Anne Hathaway turned a few heads. Seattle Style said worst dressed goes to Miley Cyrus as number one, Heidi Klum for second, and Beyonce for third. How bad could these made up celebs really look? My personal favorites were Jennifer Anniston, Anne Hathaway, Brad Pitt, and James Franco. Both Brad and James had elegant choices for their suits. What were some of your favorites?

Best Supporting Actor goes to: HEATH LEDGER!!

A month before his death Heath Ledger sat down with his sister Kate in Perth and showed her some top secret photos and film clips.
Yet to be made public, they were from his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight, a film that would not be released in theatres for another eight months.
Kate was stunned. "I said to him, 'I have a feeling this is it for you. You are going to get a nomination'," said Kate, recalling the Christmas 2007 conversation. "He just looked at me and smiled. "He knew." As expected, Ledger won the best supporting actor Oscar for his scene-stealing performance as the Batman villain, an achievement that made him only the second actor to claim an Academy Award posthumously. With many moist eyes looking on, each took turns to speak. "This award tonight would've humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here, his peers, within an industry he so loved," Kim Ledger said.
Back stage, the trio admitted they were shaking when they heard their son and brother had won Hollywood's highest honour. Ledger, who died aged 28 on January 22, 2008 in his New York apartment from an accidental overdose of painkillers and sleeping pills, was the sole Australian winner at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony."

I was EXTREMELY happy that Heath Ledger won. He deserved it. His performance as the joker was one of a lifetime. Yesterday I watched a documentary that was about his life. It was about how he liked to act as his work but he didn't like the fame and everything esle that came with it. Ledger proved to be a genuine person not in the business for the money.

How do you feel about High School Musical 3!?

"High School Musical 3: Senior Year is the third installment in Disney's High School Musical film franchise. Its theatrical release in the United States began on October 24, 2008. Kenny Ortega returned as director and choreaographer as did all six primary actors.
This latest sequel follows high school seniors Troy and Gabriella, who are faced with the ultimate prospect of being separated after graduating from East High. Joined by the rest of their Wildcat friends, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes, and fears about the future.
In spite of receiving mixed reviews, in its first three days of release, High School Musical 3: Senior Year grossed $42 million in North America and an additional $40 million overseas, breaking the record for the largest opening weekend for a musical film."

High School Musical 3 is now officially out on dvd. When I was first asked to join some friends to see HSM3 I was not initially excited. The second movie was not a personal favorite of my and the first was alright. I gave in to them and eventually saw HSM3. I was kind of suprised my how much I liked it. Despite what anyone says the songs are catchy and even though the story is extremely unrealistic it's light hearted and entertaining. Needless to say I enjoyed the third more than I thought I ever would! It was actually good! What did you all think? My favorite character was rocket man! :)

Are you considered a SHOPOHOLIC!?

"Rebecca Bloomwood is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem: she's hopelessly addicted to shopping and drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can't quite get her foot in the door -- that is, until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine published by the same company. Overnight, her column becomes hugely popular, turning her into an overnight celebrity, but when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control--and is ultimately forced to reevaluate what's really important in life."

The critics give Confessions of a Shopaholic a C+ but I would have to give it a B+. I always imagined the book as a movie a little bit differently. Firstly, the book is set in London, England not NYC. I never would've imagined Becky Bloomwood and a corney character with orange coats and purple boots. I imagined her as a rather...well.. sophisticated shopaholic that can make you laugh. The movie didn't dissapoint but certain parts I would have changed. Over all it was a cute, light hearted movie that I think any viewer who didn't read the books would have throughouly enjoyed! I thought Luke's character was portrayed very well and so was the use of the green scarf. If anyone's read the book or seen the movie they know what I'm talking about. The books are on of my FAVORITE series. But movies never live up to the potential as a book. I beleive its impossible to catch the moments the same and transfer them on screen. They managed to do a decent job, not fabulous but decent. I still would recommend seeing the movie. If anyone's seen the movie or read the books let me know what you thought! :)

Rihanna V. Chris Brown!?

When the Grammys finally approached Sunday night R&B's hottest couple were missing! Something had to have gone wrong. Little did everyone know instead the normally affectionate couple were involved in a violent fight that left Chris Brown booked on felony criminal threat charges. Sources say he turned himself in to the LAPD in Sunday at 6:43 p.m. Sources say Rihanna was the victim in the assault which occures around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Someone called 911 because of disturbance and statements were made by Rihanna who has visible injuries who said Brown attacked her. Hours after the inicdent witnesses spotted Brown and Rihanna leaving a London Hotel together earlier that morning.
During the Grammys Rihanna and Brown were no shows. Brown was charged with making criminal threats which means the victim " is in fear for his/her life." Brown might face criminal charges. Brown is having attorney Mark Geragos defending him. Geragos also helped defent Michael Jackson during his child molestation trial. I can't help wonder if there is another part to this story. Hollywood drama is always stretched. Could innocent only nineteen year old Chris Brown physicaly attack Rihanna!? If so, why did he turn himself in. Sounds interesting to me.....

51st Grammy's turns out to be a let down! :(

Although everyone involved with the Grammy's had said it would be the "show of a life time," I found it to be a let down. This is only my personal opinion of course. Since I am not a country fan I was dissapointed in the fact of how many country performs performed at the awards show. Additionally, I thought the show was rather long. Instead of announcing winners and having performances the show seemed to drag on and got a little dull towards the end. I was VERY unhappy to hear the neither Jason Mraz nor Jonas Brothers got a grammy. The Jonas Brothers won to the new British Pop sensation Adele. This made me very upset :( haha. I have always been a fan of Jason Mraz but when I got the chance to see him live and in person I was very impressed with his performance. He was probably one of the best single performers I have ever seen. His music is different and he sounds BETTER live then on a CD. It was a disspointment to not see him win a Grammy because he deserves it!!! It was also a shame that he was only nominated for "I'm Yours," because many of his songs are better then that one. On the other hand, I was thrilled to see performances by Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake and T.I., Stevie Wonder, Kate Perry, Jennifer Hudson etc. Here is a list of the winners!! P.S. If you watched the award show let me know what you thought of it? Were you disspointed with the performances and/or winners?

Heath Ledger: To be or not to be? That is the question.

These past few months have brought alot of award shows. The Grammy's are coming up this weekend and the Oscars in a few weeks. All of these awards bring about exciting news. My focus of interest this time is on Heath Ledger. In case you didn't know the one year mark since his death was just a few weeks ago. Since his tragic death and the release of Batman: The Dark Knight , many people have been gossiping about him. Will he win the Oscar has been the major controversy. He did win a golden globe for best supporting actor a few weeks ago. Christopher Nolan took the award on his behalf. Many people say that Heath Ledger deserves this Oscar whether he was dead or alive. Others say that he is only getting this award because he has passed on. If you ask me Heath Ledger as "The Joker" was the best performance of his life. It is probably my favorite character ever in a movie. I'm crossing my fingers that he wins the Oscar for best supporting actor. Hoping you'll be praying too! He deserves it!

"He's going to win. There's no reason not to vote for him," says Johanna Schneller, film columnist for The Globe and Mail. "He was compelling, he was magnetic, he was interesting, he was unusual, he just did everything right. It's just a shame it's the last movie we get to see him in." If that doesn't say it all what does? Let me know what you think!

Bruce Springsteen "The Boss" performs at half time show!

Super Bowl weekend is always a huge deal at my house. Sometimes I wonder if my dad makes it too much of a big deal... Anyways the Steelers led to a ecstatic victory! But that wasn't all that had the crowd pumped! Bruce Springsteen's half time performance really put things over the top at Tampa's Florida Raymond James Stadium. Springsteen aka "The Boss" gave a hyped up, much anticipated performance. ( He's 59!!! He must be in great shape!) Springsteen said, " For the next 12 minutes, we're going to bring righteous power of the E Street Band into your home!" Next Springsteen hopped onto a piano yelling, " Is there anybody alive out there?!"

And by the crowds reaction, there definitely was. His performance started off with "10th Avenue Freezeout" and next thing you know there he is sliding across stage directly smashing into a cameraman! All he did was smile and handle it like a professional.

All in all it was an exciting Super Bowl with some fun memories. Jennifer Hudson led the night with the singing of the national anthem. What did you all think of Bruce Springsteen's performance? Also, were there any good commercials that anyone noticed? That's personally my favorite part of the Super Bowl. Ha ha.
